What makes a city attractive? Its sights, location, cuisine or great events? Basel, or Basel (in Portuguese) makes me want to come back again and again. Its slower pace compared to Zurich, its streets that have a surprise around every corner, sometimes a recorder can be heard through an open window, the buzz of people chatting and having a beer in the late afternoon on the banks of the Rhine are some of the factors that make me always want to return to this city.
Museums for all tastes
It hosts one of the world’s largest art events, ART Basel, has the highest concentration of museums per inhabitant in Switzerland, and has in its cuisine the undeniable French and regional influences. The Baloise Festival brings music renowns to its stages and the desire to stay and enjoy the upcoming events only increases.
Starting point for a river cruise, Basel is that hot tip for those who like to enjoy themselves discreetly, but do not give up exclusivity. In a few days you follow the Rhine through France, Germany and arrive in Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
The city even has a walk of fame, did you know? And of course his illustrious son could not be missing: Roger Federer, son of a Swiss father and a South African mother, in my opinion, represents well a characteristic of the Swiss people: discretion. Something quite typical of Basel, I would say.
In this wonderful triangle between Zurich, Bern and Basel you can travel by train from any of these cities to the other in just 1 hour. An ideal way for you to enjoy another destination and return at the end of the day, or even after dinner. Our trains also run during the night between the main cities.
And you, what makes you want to return to a destination?
